Great Wines of Italy Trade & Industry Tasting

Intra Vino Inc. had the wonderful opportunity to attend the "Great Wines of Italy Trade & Industry Tasting" in the final weeks of the season. We had some fantastic wine from some outstanding wineries at the Grand Tasting.

A mix of industry experts, newcomers, and individuals just eager to have fun and check out what these Italian producers had to offer made up the audience.

Including Prosecco, Barolo, Brunello, Chianti Classico, and many other excellent varietals from different regions. A special assortment of undiscovered jewels, etc. A wonderful range of Italian cuisine was also appreciated by guests.

We held insightful discussions with both established and up-and-coming manufacturers in Italy.

Global warming, climate change, and sustainability were all hot topics. Concerns from producers on the future of their business and what may be done within the sector to address these worries.

The highlight of the trip was, of course, sampling fantastic wines from all across Italy and engaging in memorable conversations. Future business is expected as we try to cultivate new connections with some of these fantastic producers.

Most of the wine lovers are aware of outstanding quality of Greek wines. Greece is one of the first countries in the world that started wine production and home to many grape varietals that can be found nowhere else in the world.

One of the most famous Greek indigenous grapes among whites is Assyrtiko, and Xinomavro among red ones. For example, if you prefer dry citrusy wine, Assyrtiko will be the great choice for you. This grape varietal is mostly found on Santorini and is phenomenal with anything that comes from the sea, starting with fresh fish and ending with grilled oysters. In our portfolio you can find exceptional Assyrtiko wine, coming from one of the oldest Greek wineries Domaine Porto Carras. The wine shows bright straw blonde colour, delicate citrus aromas, honeyed fruits, roasted nuts and lemon-curd (LCBO# 991728).

Xinomavro from the other side is very rich, full of berries, powerful wine that can mellow out into a thing of beauty. This wine will be a beautiful pairing for barbecued meats, game, and especially lamb. If you are red wine lover and just beginning to discover Greek wines we recommend you to start with Naoussa Chrisohoou from Estate Chrisohoou . Winery is located in Naoussa region, "the heart of wine and vineyards”. Estate operates for more than 50 years and famous for its outstanding Naoussa Chrisohoou wine. The bottle offers cherry, cigar-box and savoury meat aromas start this sultry red. On the palate, olives, tomato and dried currant flavours are poised by a brisk minerality (LCBO#: 835710).

We know how hard it can be to find Greek wines in Toronto, therefore we recommend you to visit LCBO Store located at 200 Danforth avenue, as offers the biggest variety of wines coming from Greece. Another way to get personalized recommendations and choose the right wine for yourself is to send us email at order@intravino.ca and our salespeople will be more than happy to assist you.
